IAN S. ALWARD, MD
Dr. Alward graduated from the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, IN. in 1999. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and joined SAMC in 2006. He is also a member of the International Health Medical Education Consortium. He is also boad certifed in sleep Medicine and is able to assist patients with sleep complaints such as sleep apnea, insomnia and shift work sleep disorder.
In his spare time, Ian enjoys hiking, fishing, bicycling, and soccer. He is married with 2 children.
GLENN R. GRAVES, MD
Dr. Graves graduated from the University of Texas at Austin; Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He completed Aerospace Medicine at Brooks Air Force Base in San Antonio and served as Flight Surgeon. Dr. Graves is certified to perform FAA physicals in class II and III. He is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. Glenn is married, has two children and three grandchildren. He enjoys bicycling and outdoor sports. His wife is a nutritionist at UT and his son is in medical school.
WALTER (Dick) LEVERICH, MD
Dr. Leverich joined the team at SAMC in 2005 after running his own successful private practice. He graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 1986. He is married with two children. In his spare time Dick enjoys photography, metal sculpture and banjo playing. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
Mark J. Levy, MD
Dr. Levy graduated from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston in 1988. He started a private practice in Austin in 1991 and joined the team at SAMC in 2005. He enjoys many forms of athletics and anything to do with the ocean. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
JOSEPH J. MALLESKE, MD
Dr. Malleske graduated from St. Edward’s University in Austin and the Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio. He began practice at SAMC in 1979 following completion of his residency program at Brackenridge Hospital. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Family Medicine and a Fellow in the American Academy of Family Physicians. He is married with three children and three grandchildren. Joseph enjoys being with family and friends as well as traveling, fishing, camping and boating.
Manuel J. Martin, MD
Dr. Martin grew up in Spain and speaks Spanish fluently. He graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas in 1988 and soon began his medical career in Austin joining SAMC in 2002. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and active in several organizations in the Austin Community. He is married with two daughters. He loves athletics, coffee and chocolate – in any order.
DONOVAN (DeeDee) D. SMITH, MD
Known to family, friends, and patients as “Dee Dee”, Dr. Smith graduated from University of Texas at Austin, went on to graduate Magna cum Laude from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and then obtained her Doctor of Medicine from Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in 2002. She joined SAMC in 2005 and is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. She enjoys cooking, gardening, reading, hanging out with her puppy and college football season. She is training hard for her first triathlon.
ERIC W. WEIDMANN, MD 
Dr. Weidmann graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, College of Engineering and then earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas in 1985. He joined SAMC in 1989 and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Family Practice. He is recognized as a “hands on leader” in the application of technology and data systems to patient care and medical practice. His community and personal life orbits around his fabulous wife and two high school daughters. He has participated in numerous sports but currently has a particular fondness for cycling, swimming and hang gliding.
AMY K. EASTERLING, DO
One of our newest team member, Dr. Easterling joined SAMC in December 2009 after completing her residency at Austin Medical Education Program for Family Medicine. She graduated from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in 2006. She is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. She is proficient in Spanish. Her interests include scuba diving, traveling, and UT athletics.
Dr. Todd A. Canon
Our newest team member, Dr. Canon, will join SAMC in October 2010. A native Texan, he relocated to Austin after working in Portland, Oregon for nine years. He completed his residency at Oregon Health and Science University Family Medicine in 2001. He received his MD from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 1998. He is board certifed by the American Board of Family Medicine. In his free time Dr. Canon enjoys running, bicycling, cooking, vegetable gardening, piano lessons and volunteering with civil rights organizations.
